ACTIVITY 1: KICK-OFF MEETING

The Project Partners met in a three-day working seminar (from April 2nd to 4th) in Prato to better share project objectives and activities, to explain the project proceedings (content, methodology, administrative and financial matters), and to establish the Project Steering Committee. This meeting has also allowed the Partners to develop a common language around local development issues (sustainable development; tourism and culture promotion), as well as to reach consensus on the methodological approach that characterises the activities to be implemented along the Action. As a result the PAMLED Partners identified a series of sub-topics that would better specify their respective experiences and opportunities to network in the coming years in the two Project Sectors of: Local Development Planning and Management and City Marketing.

The sub-topics so far identified by the Partners, and subject to the Missions of Technical Assistance of the members of the Scientific Committee (part of Activity 2) are:

GROUP 1 – Sustainable Development
  • Water management (Water Management during “heavy period” of consumption - tourists and residents increase consumption)
  • Waste Management (Management of the collection, recycling and disposal)
  • Communication with citizens and tourist operators (both in water and waste management)
  • Strategic Planning (Territorial and Urban Planning)
GROUP 2 – Territorial / City Marketing:
  • Thematic tourism itineraries
  • Cultural events
  • Policies in support to the Young Entrepreneurship
  • Policies in support to sustainable handicraft development linked to policies of environmental care and protection.
  • Public-Private communication and partnership: strengthening the local network for the city tourist promotion
The PAMLED Partners have recently (2nd fortnight of September) entered PHASE 2 of the Project that envisages the constitution of the two thematic WORKING GROUPS to support all the 8 partners to networking more efficiently, while establishing the methodological process of the city-to-city partnerships that intends to implement the Pilot Project Plans in the three Mediterranean territories (Sin El Fil, Marrakech and Bodrum) – expected duration: 12 months.

The selection of the sub-topics has been the object of the Project Activity 2, better specified as follows.

ACTIVITY 2:

COMMUNITY CONSULTING THROUGH LOCAL STAKEHOLDERS’ INVOLVEMENT in the European and MEDA COUNTRIES

Currently on-going are “Activity 3: PREPARATORY ACTIVITIES FOR THE CONSTITUTION OF THE TWO WORKING GROUPS: “PLANNING AND MANAGEMENT” AND “CITY MARKETING” and the subsequent Activity 4 (implementation of the Partners’ Meeting to establish the Two Working Groups).
