Success Stories
Favoured by the PAMLED activities the Municipalities of Brtonigla/Verteneglio (Croatia) and Sin El Fil (Lebanon), that did not know each others respective histories and experiences, agreed to tighten their bilateral partnership thus already laying the bases of the Second Year city-to-city partnership.
The respective town representatives shared a common ground in their recent history as Countries that have experienced a disruptive internal and regional conflict, that brought to have them just recently rebuilt their government planning and management capabilities (or being in the process of doing so).
Their dialogue focused around the priorities expressed by the representatives of Sin El Fil to receive the support of the PAMLED Network in defining its future strategic planning pivotal to enhance the town capabilities in the field of Territorial and Urban Planning. A process that the Municipality of Brtonigla/Verteneglio has completed similarly in 2006.
In this respect, the PAMLED Project fostered a direct dialogue among the network partners and discussed with them the lessons learnt, hence high lightening the importance of a transnational sharing of experiences of its Mediterranean partners, where a Country such as the Republic of Croatia passed in the recent years from being solely the beneficiary of the EU development funds to be a provider of technical assistance in the same sectors.
