Achievements to DateThe STREAM CITIES project’s kick off meeting was held on 1st, 2nd and 3rd April, 2007 in Bethlehem. After that meeting the project went idle for months. The Methodology of Analysis and Identification of Local Needs and Potentialities was presented in Bethlehem (first draft), than revised and approved by the Scientific Committee (October 2007).
The Moroccan city of Haroura – Témara was replaced by the city of Fez.
The second general meeting was held in Catania, Italy on January 25th 2008. The Leader partner presented the situation of the city of Catania in the strategic planning and Valencia gave its scientific guidelines for the MEDA partners. The Steering Committe took crucial decisions for the continuation of the project's activities
ANCI IDEALI and ReCS visited El Mina and Fez on March 3-4, 2008. In El Mina they met the Mayor, Mr Alameddine, and the project coordinator Dr Samer Annous. STREAM Cities could be El Mina’s opportunity to work on the part of the Plan related to El Mina (strategic plan of the old city as part of Tripoli’s integrated plan). More specifically, El Mina’s plan is to work for Ecotourism. In Fez they met the Deputy Mayor, Dr Mohamed Laraqui Housseini, the Head of International Relations and Cooperation, Mr Abdelmajid Njioui, and the Head of Cultural and Social Affairs Department, Mr Essaïd Ben Amar Amrani. The project is the tool to develop the strategic planning of the requalification of the Medina and of the suks.
The Cypriot city of Limassol was replaced by the Italian ANCI ideali Foundation.

El Mina's kick-off meeting was held on July 23, 2009. The Mayor introduced the general framework of project and the commitment of the city council to make it successful. Dr. Annous emphasized the importance of the participatory meetings and that there will be several ones with the representatives of the civil society and municipality employees.
All the partners gathered in Reggio Emilia to attend the Steering Committee and the training session on September 27-28-29, 2009. The training session was MEDA-oriented in order to give the 3 MEDA partners tools, instruments and know-how to implement this project and future ones.
Technical visit of the MEDA partners to Valencia on October 1-2, 2009. The Strategic Plan of Valencia was described and analysed in-depth. The participatory approach used by Valencia was well explained to the MEDA partners, focusing on the most difficult part, that is getting started. A guided tour showed all participants the main successful strategic projects of Valencia. Also representatives of ANCI IDEALI and Reggio Emilia participated to the technical visit.
Strategic planning experts from ReCS Network visited the 3 MEDA partnes, Fez - Bethlehem - El Mina, in order to provide technical and concrete support to their work on the Plan.
